Friends of Boars Hill (FoBH)

Things we do

Actively representing residents

Our primary function is to represent the views of Boars Hill residents to the local authorities. Secondary, but still paramount functions, include: Informing residents of matters of local interest, side by side with the Boars Hill Association (BHA) and the Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT); Mobilising the local community in responding to proposals; Meeting with developers where appropriate to guide proportionate and appropriate development; Arranging expert technical advice to properly represent residents’ interests if required; Funding activities.

Email updates

We send out emails on an irregular basis with updates about current applications to Boars Hill residents. If you would like to be on our email list, please email us, including your name and your address. If you live in the immediate Boars Hill area we will add your details straightaway. If you live outside the area, please tell us first about your interest in Boars Hill.

Hand delivered flyers

We also less-frequently distibute flyers by hand in Boars Hill. As you can imagine, this is a very labour intensive process. If you would like to help us by distributing to the area near your residence, please email us so we can make a note for the next ‘round’.

Expert planners and consultants

We can’t do much of the expert work without help from external consultants and experts. (For example, with traffic issues and matters around the interpretation of Green Belt laws.) So we have engaged a number of skilled partners who help us with advice on strategy and actual submissions to the authority in line with our goals about our settlement.

Fund raising

In order to match the often difficult issues at stake in resisting unwanted development, we use external resources such as those mentioned above. To fund the very best experts, we raise money from Boars Hill residents. Some of you reading this will have helped in that way, for which we are very grateful. Funding is a continuous process and if you would like to help please click here to contribute.
